Court hearing held for men accused of killing Louisville girl, her father
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Two men accused of murdering a 9-year-old girl and her father returned to court on Monday after being arrested in March.
Antonia Brown and Antonio Sanderson are charged with the murders of Vernon Lee, 52, and his daughter Kaylee Lee, and were indicted days later by a Jefferson County grand jury. They are accused of killing the two during an alleged home invasion in southwest Louisville in August 2021.
Sanderson was apprehended a little more than a month ago. According to investigators, he was in Arizona and was extradited back to Kentucky.

On Monday, the judge presiding over the hearing in Jefferson County Circuit Court confirmed Sanderson is in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $250,000 cash bond, but Sanderson’s lawyer said his team has no idea where he is and it’s unclear if jailers simply did not bring him to the hearing.
Prosecutors are gathering evidence for the case and have said there is a significant amount to go through. LMPD officers initially said the killings appeared to be the result of a violent home invasion after a safe and other valuable items were stolen from Vernon Lee’s home.
Brown and Sanderson are both charged with robbery, murder, and a variety of weapons offenses. Brown is also charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court again on May 19.
