LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The names of officers involved in a shooting that left a homicide suspect injured have been released. On Sunday, Jan. 5, Louisville police officers found a woman who had been seriously injured in a shooting on Cypress Street. She later died at the University of Louisville Hospital from her injuries.

Officer William Stull, Officer Matthew Foust, and Officer Kyle Cosgrove have been placed on administrative leave. Stull was involved in a shooting back in Jan. 2022 that happened during a carjacking in the Algonquin neighborhood.

Joshua Miller, 36, of Louisville, is charged with murder.

A witness of the shooting was able to help police identify Miller as the suspect. The witness told police, that as they were going into the home on Cypress, she saw Miller shoot the woman several times before fleeing.

Later that day, Miller returned to the area where the shooting happened while officers were investigating. As officers approached Miller, he shot at them, and they returned fire after a foot pursuit. Miller was taken to the hospital and is expected to live.

While en route to the hospital, the citation said Miller can be heard on body camera footage saying, “If they ask you, I wasn’t sorry for it. I was trying to kill that *****”

He has since been released and is in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said there is body camera footage of the incident that will be released within 10 business days.
